E-commerce is growing faster in France – and Europe overall – than in the USA

e-commerce MANUTENTION 2012

A survey, conducted by the Centre for Retail Research for online price matcher Kelkoo, discloses the current e-commerce trends.

Although the highest turnover in Europe is generated by Great Britain and Germany (€67.74bn and €50.92bn respectively for 2011, compared with €47.17bn for France), these two countries are likely to post the lowest internet sales growth for 2012 whereas the highest growth forecasts are recorded by Poland (+24%) and France (+22%).

  • E-commerce represented 7.8% of aggregate retail sales in Europe for 2011, a share likely to rise to 8.8% for 2012.
